Onwards and upwards

Being honest, I fell out of love with the world of writing, and the world of blogging for a while. Over the past few weeks, I've felt myself writing things down in a journal and helping clear my head, there's a lot going on in there, so thought... why not get back to writing online! If there's anyone even reading this anymore....

We're 3 months away from Christmas and New Year... time has truly flown by this year. But i've done so much, and got so much more to look forward to over the next few months.. Hen Do's, Dublin, work opportunities, house renovations, weight loss journeys... you name it!

I've been following Slimming World again for 6 weeks, and i'm well and truly back into the swing of things, I'm 1st 1lb down already! Haven't set my overall target, but ideally would like to loose another 2 stone before we fly to New York in January. Yes you read that right, NEW YORK! My dream is finally coming true. We're off to NYC for Alec's birthday and our anniversary in January and I cannot wait! We've had it booked for a while and I'm counting down the hours. Speaking of Alec, he's just started a new job and he'll be working from home, so we're on the look out for a new pad to buy after Christmas.

Anyway, I just thought I'd jump back on here and share some photos of what I've been up to the past few months!

Treated myself to a jumpsuit I had my eye on for agessssss!!
It's from River Island, and is so comfy!

Took part in the Gauntlet Games at Heaton Park for Charity, 10K gladiator challenge raising money for Bury Hospice with my work colleagues!

Pushed myself, got covered in mud, water but had a fantastic time raising money for a good cause.

Trip with Work to London to collect our PC Pro Award for Best Broadband Provider 2018.

Enjoyed nights out with my work team and plenty of lovely food and Gin!
Lastly, I've enjoyed so many events this summer, plenty of socialising, stepping out of my comfort zone and falling in love with myself.

I'm going to make sure I carry on writing, maybe more online rather than in my notebook!

Chow for now,

Clearing my head and vacating in Poland

I don't know where to start, but this kind of follows on from my other post (over-eating and not listening?). I've recently come back from a Girl Vacay in Krakow.

I said to myself I wasn't flying this year, and saving my money for a new home and mine and Alec's trip to New York in January 2019... but I needed this break. Me and my best friend decided to visit Krakow, we've both had a tough few months and needed some time away to chill out, de-stress and having a laugh! That being said, we did just that! Me and my best friend (Sammie) have been friends for years, I couldn't be sad around her.. it's just not possible, and this break was needed after the stress and emotions I've experienced the past couple of months.

This post isn't a "pity" post, it's a post where I can share some of my pics, and recommendations of places to visit, eat and see in Krakow.. so without further a do here goes.

Moo Moo's Steak and Burger club - Krakow

Moo Moo's was recommended to me by an Instagram friend who visited in February, and was sure to be added to our itinerary list. I've seen and heard so many fantastic reviews about this place, and a lot of people advised we needed to book. When we arrived on the Saturday, we went straight to Moo Moo's and booked for the Saturday evening.
The atmosphere and d├ęcor of the place is really refreshing and very modern, gives the restaurant a boutique feel. The menu had over 6 burgers to choose from, and all where different from the other, there was a wide variety of choice on Meat e.g. Steak and sides/sauces to order from, and overall I really enjoyed the food. We decided to go for No.4 the BBQ Bacon Burger as Burgers had been recommended to us by several people, and I can honestly say I was not disappointed. There was a large selection of drinks, cockatils, beers, soft drinks etc.. and the place made me feel very relaxed. I would rate this a 8/10 for food, and would recommend this place. The only suggestion I would make, would be to book as you have an allocated time to spend at your table. Also, if your only going for a burger, I'd suggest maybe going during the day for a more chilled/casual vibe.

Sioux Restaurant - Krakow

Sioux was another recommendation on our list, and again we where not disappointed with the food, location or the drinks! We visited Sioux for lunch on Monday (before we flew home), and I have to say the weather was a huge bonus, we sat outside, ate lunch, drank cocktails and lapped up the lovely warm weather. The food was full of flavour, and freshness! A bit of Salad was definitely needed after all the junk food consumed, the food was fresh and tasted delicious. Everything was reasonably priced, and our meal cost approx. £25 for 2 cocktails, and 2 mains. The drinks where super strong! But so refreshing and delicious, there was no measurer used for those cocktails!

One thing I would note is the staff, yes they are friendly but they all seemed to huddle around a few feet away from our table, laughing, pointing at people and joking as people walked past. This made us feel slightly uncomfortable as we where wondering what they where saying about us (if anything at all - call us paranoid), but it was uncomfortable to watch, especially as all the staff are young and "trendy". Overall I can't knock the place as it was the perfect location and food for our pre-flight lunch!

Virtuoso Italian - Krakow

We visited this place twice.. can you tell we loved it!
We first visited on Sunday night, as we where strolling through the square the restaurant was facing the beautiful buildings, horse & carts where everywhere and live music was playing, very romantic. As 2 girls, we love a bit of romance, even if its not for us ha! So we dived right in and engrossed ourselves in the atmosphere. The food and the drinks were unbelievably tasty, and super cheap! The staff made us feel so welcomed, and where a delight to speak and deal with (on both visits). We enjoyed our evening meal, and sat for around 3 hours enjoying the atmosphere and cocktails, without being mithered to leave our table etc.. We visited again on the Monday evening for tea before our flight, again the food was spectacular and the staff oh so friendly! All the food was rustic and homemade, huge pizza ovens that you can see and amazing pasta dishes! Not to mention the cocktails and desserts! A huge selection to choose from, and food to please everyone. This place gets a 10/10 from me, and I can't wait to go back and take Alec, he loves an authentic homemade lasagne.

17 thoughts of 2017

I've been through quite a challenging and exiting year, and thought I would share my 17 thoughts of 2017.

  • Losing a loved one is difficult, but don't wallow away and shut everybody out. Surround yourself with friends and family, it helps - although it might not be what you want to do.
  • Treat yourself every now and then, put yourself first sometimes and don't feel bad, go buy that Gucci purse or treat yourself to an expensive holiday.
  • However much I try, I hate carrots, always have and always will.
  • Moving out of your parents and living on your own/with a partner, is the best thing you will ever do. Although its scary at first, a year later I love my own independence aswell as the support from my family.
  • When your sister tells you she's moving to Australia for 2 years, don't believe her. Mine was back in 9 months! Not that I'm complaining.
  • Life is precious, don't make others jealous if you have something they want. I've learnt this the hard way last year.
  • Women need to support and empower each other, instead of being bitchy and jealous slagging other people's businesses off.
  • Remember that any journey can be a struggle, and it's not a race. I've struggled losing weight this year, but I've learnt to accept I'm no Usain Bolt.
  • Brown sauce is overrated
  • Puppies bring pure happiness to any family when they've been through a hard time, even better is 2 puppies!
  • I need to let my hair down more instead of panicking over money (I don't know why I do this) I think I'm too organised for  my own good, I need to know where every penny goes from the Joint account... why? I'm not gunna shoot Alec am I?
  • I need to Stop being a slob, get up and go to the gym on the weekend instead of lounging around in Gym gear eating biscuits
  • My willpower has become so weak, I just look at a donut and I'm then eating 10 of them!
  • Appreciate every person in your life, and let go of those who drag you down.
  • Work to be the best you can, and don't settle for 2nd best.
  • Why am I allergic to Pugs? But not other short haired dogs?
  • The world does crazy things, we need to do more to support each other. We don't know what could happen in the space of 24 hours.
If you learnt anything different about yourself, or life in general in 2017! Make sure those changes count for this upcoming year, you only get 1 life!
